Joe Wicks Live PE lessons
With many of us staying at home, it’s essential that we try to keep our minds and our bodies as active as possible.
Joe Wicks will be streaming PE lessons on his Youtube channel for children (and adults can join in too!) every weekday morning starting Monday 23rd March at 9am.
What better way to start your day?
Daily maths lessons by I See Maths
Starting Monday 23rd March, Gareth Metcalfe, a leading practitioner in primary mathematics education, will be posting daily lessons (Monday-Friday) to aid your child with their learning of mathematics whilst at home.
This is not compulsory, but may help those children and parents who are struggling for ideas, or need someone to talk them through the steps of more complex mathematics.
At 9am each morning, a video will be posted on his blog: http://www.iseemaths.com/home-lessons/
Please watch this video, where Gareth will introduce himself and you can find out about what these lessons will entail.
Hamlet
Over the last couple of weeks, children in year 3 and 4 have begun to read Hamlet in school. Unfortunately, due to the school closures, we will not have the time to complete this book. As many children have been enjoying reading this story, we have found a PDF version that children can read at home if they so wish.
Click on the button below which will take you to the web page needed to download the PDF, for free, to your home computer.
William Shakespeare – Twinkl Go
Use this code to access resources on the TwinklGo site all about William Shakespeare.
Here, you will find a word search, a reading activity and some other ideas of things you might like to do to take your learning further.
Thanks,
Miss Farrall.

Y3/4 Homework Spring 2
Each week, please complete one activity from the Learning Challenge homework sheet as well as learning the spellings for the current week.
My Money Sense Workshop
This morning, class 5 had the opportunity to take part in a My Money Sense Workshop alongside a volunteer from Natwest bank. In groups, they had to solve the task of planning and costing a birthday party whilst sticking to a strict budget.
They had to decide what food to serve, where to have their party, what entertainment they would have as well as planning and budgeting for extras such as paper plates, cutlery and party bags.
The maths skills used during the session were fantastic and all of the children really enjoyed working as a team to complete their task.
Shakespeare Festival 2019
Here is some of the fabulous art work produced by our pupils during Shakespeare Festival 2019.
The children in Foundation Stage made fairy wands, fairy gardens and fairy layered pictures.
Key Stage 1 children created an amazing patchwork quilt inspired by Romeo and Juliet. Showcasing their textiles skills.
In Years 3 and 4 Julius Caesar was the inspiration. The pupils each designed and made a printing block. These prints were combined with a sculpture to represent the theme ‘Revenge’.
Years 5 and 6 were studying Hamlet and as well as some sketches to represent the story, they also created multi media images.
Each class were challenged to create an exploding book for their play to celebrate World Book Day.
Please have a look at the photos below.
Shakespeare festival – visual literacy
For the past 4 weeks, children in Class 5 have been working very hard to create their own eBooks all about our text, Julius Caesar.
I am so proud of all of their hard work and they are too!
Click the buttons to see their finished creations!
Tudor WOW Morning
Class 5 spent the morning dressed up as people from the Tudor era. We learned all about Henry VIII and his six wives by immersing ourselves in a fantastic workshop!
Christmas choir
Carr Mill’s Christmas Choir Wow audiences!
Our New Book!
We have been reading The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe as part of our English curriculum over the past few weeks.
We went outside into our very own ‘forest’ to imagine how Lucy would feel.
We had great fun dancing like ballerinas to find different words to describe how a snowflake falls!
