Here in Reception Class we continually strive to to create a warm and nuturing environment in which children feel physically and emotionally safe.

We aim to instill a lifetime love of learning and prepare children to be resilient learners.

As a staff, we pride ourselves in how we get to know each indiviual child and build our curriculum around their strengths and interests. By doing this, we help to build each child's self-esteem and confidence and promote their independence. 

Our classroom provision is focused around developing social & emotional skills, communication & language and physical development in order to provide a firm foundation to enable children to become readers, writers, mathematicians, artists, historians, scientists etc.

To ensure we work together to meet the needs of the children we develop close and supportive relationships with all families.

In Reception Class, we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum.

This consists of 7 areas of learning and development. 

The Prime Areas are:

• Communication and Language
• Personal, Social and Emotional Development
• Physical Development

The Specific Areas are:

• Literacy
• Mathematics
• Understand of the World
• Expressive arts and Design
