Easter Holidays Home Learning Class 1
Hi Class 1,
I have put some ideas below for you to practise over the Easter holidays. There are two learning projects that you can complete (see below). You can either choose your favourite one to do over two weeks, or do one per week if you want to do both. There is also time capsule (below on our class page) if you haven’t done this already. Try to keep up with your reading using the Oxford Owl website, and if you can, try to write a sentence a day. It can be about something that you have done during the day, something that you have watched or read, or you can write your own stories based on your interests (anything!). Please use the web links in your home learning book if you would like to do anything extra. I will update the page again with new tasks after Easter.
However, the most important thing is to try to enjoy this time with your families as best you can and stay safe 🙂

Home Learning Class 1 Tuesday 24th March
Tuesday 24th March
Hi class 1!
Just to let you know, the maths sheets below do not need to be printed. The children can write the answers in their books. Where the question asks you to circle, the children can either draw the correct answer or point to the correct one. Where the question asks you to match, the children can draw the tens and ones and write the number.
Thanks,
Mrs Dixon

St Helens Youth Open Art Competition 2019
Five Carr Mill Pupil’s artwork was selected to be exhibited in the St Helens Youth Open Art Competition at The World of Glass this year.
A special congratulations to Cameron in Class 1 who won the KS1 category with his model of The Titanic!
Shakespeare Festival 2019
Here is some of the fabulous art work produced by our pupils during Shakespeare Festival 2019.
The children in Foundation Stage made fairy wands, fairy gardens and fairy layered pictures.
Key Stage 1 children created an amazing patchwork quilt inspired by Romeo and Juliet. Showcasing their textiles skills.
In Years 3 and 4 Julius Caesar was the inspiration. The pupils each designed and made a printing block. These prints were combined with a sculpture to represent the theme ‘Revenge’.
Years 5 and 6 were studying Hamlet and as well as some sketches to represent the story, they also created multi media images.
Each class were challenged to create an exploding book for their play to celebrate World Book Day.
Please have a look at the photos below.
Goodbye Mrs Thorne

We were all very sorry to see Mrs Thorne leave in July. The children celebrated Mrs Thorne’s retirement with a tea party with her and her family. The children enjoyed cakes and juice and shared some of their special memories of Mrs Thorne.
Here a few images.
We love you Mrs Thorne and we wish you a very happy retirement!
Aspirations Week
Today, as part of the Aspirations Week celebrations, the children in class one got to try out potential future careers. They pretended to be doctors, nurses, police officers, vets and even palaeontologists!
