We plan a child-centered curriculum based around the needs and interests of the children in our care. We see parents as partners and work alongside them to provide the children with the greatest possible start to their school life. We recognise that parents are the first educators for all children.
In Nursery we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum.
This consists of 7 areas of learning and development.
The Prime Areas are:
- Communication and Language
- Personal, Social and Emotional Development
- Physical Development
The Specific Areas are:
- Literacy
- Mathematics
- Understand of the World
- Expressive arts and Design

Characteristics of Effective Learning
As well as Early Learning Goals we also observe the 'Characteristics of Effective Learning'.
The Characteristics of Effective Learning describe learning as a process and not as an event.
The three characteristics of effective teaching and learning are:
-Playing and exploring - children investigate and experience things, and have a go
-Active learning - children concentrate and keep on trying if they encounter difficulties, and enjoy achievements; and
-Creating and thinking critically - children have and develop their own ideas, make links between ideas, and develop strategies for doing things.
We plan to meet the aims of our curriculum through child centered learning alongside our wonderful learning environment - indoors and outdoors.

-Dough disco and Funky Fingers
-Helicopter stories
-Squiggle whilst you wiggle
