Welcome to Nursery - Seedlings' class.
Session Times for Nursery Children:
Morning nursery: 8.30am – 11.30am (Doors open at 11.20am)
30 hours places 8.30am -3.10pm
In Nursery we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum.
This consists of 7 areas of learning and development.
The Prime Areas are:
- Communication and Language
- Personal, Social and Emotional Development
- Physical Development
The Specific Areas are:
- Literacy
- Mathematics
- Understand of the World
- Expressive arts and Design

Characteristics of Effective Learning
As well as Early Learning Goals we also observe the 'Characteristics of Effective Learning'.
The Characteristics of Effective Learning describe learning as a process and not as an event.
The three characteristics of effective teaching and learning are:
-Playing and exploring - children investigate and experience things, and have a go
-Active learning - children concentrate and keep on trying if they encounter difficulties, and enjoy achievements; and
-Creating and thinking critically - children have and develop their own ideas, make links between ideas, and develop strategies for doing things.
We plan to meet the aims of our curriculum through child centered learning alongside our wonderful learning environment - indoors and outdoors.
Activities:
We plan wonderful small group times with activities that help to meet the needs of our children and our curriculum. These include:
-Dough disco and Funky Fingers
-Squiggle whilst you wiggle
-Squiggle Club
-Story time
-Maths activities
-Circle time (PSED based)
-PATHS
-What comes before phonics - listening and attention games.

Our environment includes:

We are proud that our setting has recently completed the Maths Champions programme and we are a communication friendly setting.
Nursery Funding:
St Helens Council - 15 hours funding
A scheme to provide up to 15 hours per week of funded early education / childcare for some two-year-olds.
The funding is available for 38 weeks of the year. Eligible childcare settings including school pre-schools.
When you apply, you’ll need to provide proof of your child’s identity (birth certificate) when using your passport.
Applications are available from our School Office.
