Mental Health and Wellbeing
At Carr Mill, we want our children to become the best versions of themselves; academically, socially and morally as they grow into the next generation of our community. The mental health of #teamcarrmill is of the upmost importance, and we strive to ensure that all members have access to the support and strategies they need to develop the skills they need to recognise and be mindful of their wellbeing.
We were delighted to be awarded the Carnegie Centre of Excellence for Mental Health in Schools ‘School Mental Health Award’ at bronze level in March 2021 to celebrate the good work already in place at Carr Mill and look forward to continuing to raise the profile of mental health and wellbeing as a core school priority area.
Graduated Approach to Mental Health Support
We know that ALL children benefit from developing an awareness of their mental health and wellbeing, at an age-appropriate level. For some children our universal offer (detailed below as part of our graduated approach) will be sufficient to support them to utilise the strategies taught when facing times of challenge. However, other pupils may require a more intensive package of pastoral care, which is regularly reviewed through our graduated approach to mental health support:
