Our bespoke curriculum has been tailored to meet the needs of our children and our community. Through our carefully planned and sequenced approach, we allow children to build up the knowledge, understanding and skills to reach the intended learning outcomes for each year group as outlined in the national curriculum. As we are a 45 intake school and have mixed classes, we have to teach using a 2 year cycle. We have spent lots of care and time ensuring that this is progressive and allows children, depite which order they do each cycle in, to build upon previous knowledge and skills.
Please see below the overviews and maps for each specific subject. Our assessment of these subjects focuses on the key skills needed to meet these objectives.
Individual subject details can also be found on the button below ‘Primary National Curriculum’.
For further information you can also look at the national curriculum online for Year 1-6 at https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/national-curriculum and for nursery and reception at https://www.gov.uk/early-years-foundation-stage.
Cycle A and Cycle B. The documents below show in detail the coverage for the 2 cycles across each phase: Y1/2; Y3/4 and Y5/6. Also below are details of each individual cycles learning challenges and key subjects linked to them.
Currently our learning challenges run as follows:
2020/21 Cycle A
2021/22 Cycle B
We teach each subject in blocks across the year across KS1 and KS2. This ensures clear progression in each subject and allows for whole school celebrations and sharing of work.
All of our Long term planners for each subjects and KSP ( KNowledge and skills planner) are below. These give you the overview for each individual subject over a 2 year cycle and explains in depth what is to be taught alongside each of the units in terms of knowledge and skills.
