Beech Class 30.01.26

Date: 28th Jan 2026 @ 9:53am

Beech Class have worked hard and had lots of fun whilst doing so this week.

They completed a DT unit of work all about levers and sliders. They explored how the mechanisms worked then designed, made and evaluated 2 pages for the story book 'Wild' using a slider and a lever to make the character move. We also completed some focussed practical tasks leading up to their final pieces using the stories 'The Gingerbread Man' and 'Jack and the Beanstalk'.

In maths we continued our topic of 'Shape' exploring the properties of 3D shapes - faces, vertices and edges. We had lots of fun looking at the nets of the shapes and counting the faces.

English lessons have been focussed around the story 'The Dragon Machine' and we have thought carefully about the character George and his feelings throughout the story. We have used past tense verbs to describe the noises the machine made and written a description of 'the wilderness'.

In PATHS lessons we have been learning about manners and carried out some role play to show the chosen behaviours for different scenarios.

VIP this week was awarded for DT and this was given to Penny H. Well done!
