ROWAN SUMMER 2 - Week 5

Date: 4th Jul 2025 @ 9:04am

We've had a jam-packed week this week and I just had to share some of the fantastic things we've been up to.

In Writing, the children have been putting the finishing touches on their non-chronological reports all about the British Empire. It's been fascinating watching them become mini historians and they’ve really impressed us with their use of formal tone, subheadings, and facts. They’ve taken real pride in their work, and it’s clear how much effort they’ve put into crafting their final pieces.

To complement our Writing, we've also been doing some reading around the British Empire. We've analysed a few short extracts together, thinking critically about the language used and the perspectives shown. Some brilliant discussions have come out of this – we have some deep thinkers in the class!

Over in Maths, it's been all about decimals. We’ve been comparing, ordering, rounding, and even adding and subtracting them. It’s tricky business, but the children have shown great perseverance.

One of the most exciting parts of our week has been DT building bridges. It’s been so much fun watching the children work in teams to design and construct their own bridge models. There’s been plenty of testing, tweaking, and even a few wobbly disasters—but the teamwork and creative thinking have been brilliant to see!

And finally, we ended the week on a high with a special Jag Tag session on Friday. It was such a treat! The kids absolutely loved it—running around, working together, and having lots of fun in the sunshine. What a great way to celebrate a week of hard work.

Thanks, as always, for your continued support. Wishing you all a restful weekend!
