Aspen Autumn 2 - Week 6

Another great week for Aspen!
Norton Priory
We had a fantastic day out on our history trip to Norton Priory! We travelled back in time to the Victorian era and took part in lots of exciting activities.
In the morning, we enjoyed making Victorian crafts. We created wooden peg dolls, thaumatropes, Christmas cards, and cornucopias. It was great fun using our hands and learning how children might have spent their time in the past.
After all that hard work, we enjoyed a delicious lunchtime together. Then we had some free time to explore the museum, where we discovered many interesting objects and learned more about life long ago.
To finish the day, we met the Victorian Butler, who led us in some traditional Victorian parlour games. We took part in a carousel of activities, including guess the object, helping to set the table for a Christmas Day feast, dressing up in Victorian clothes, and making some lovely chalk art.
We all had a wonderful time and learned so much about Victorian life. It was a trip we will remember for a long time! 😊
English:
In our English lessons, we have been reading The Snow Dragon and exploring the characteristics of the Twolegs and the Fire Dragons. We discussed what they look like, how they behave, and what makes them different from one another. This helped us understand the story better and use descriptive language in our own writing.
It wouldn't be Christmas without a John Lewis advert, and so we have also been watching the classic Edgar the Dragon story! We have carefully created our own class example and can't wait to finish it!
Welly Walk!
Another amazing welly walk! It was so wonderful to see everyone’s festive outfits, which really added to Friday’s fun. Thank you so much to everyone who contributed and helped make it such a special day! 🎄👢

In our DT lessons, we have explored a wide range of textiles, from clothes and curtains to even the Bayeux Tapestry! We discussed how textiles can tell a story, and this inspired us to plan our own story designs all about the Victorian Era. We have begun planning our ideas and have even been practising our amazing sewing skills! 🧵✨
