Birch Class Summer 1 Week 4 16.5.25

Date: 13th May 2025 @ 5:09pm

This week has been art week at Carr Mill. We have been creating paintings in the style of Jan Griffer, exploring colour using pastels, paints and charcoal. We started by mixing the perfect ‘fire colours’ to prepare a background. Then we used charcoal to draw Tudor houses onto of our backgrounds. Our artwork has been inspired by our upcoming history topic ‘The Great Fire of London’.

In science we have been busy planting bulbs and seeds, carrying out an experiment to find out which of our plants have the most suitable conditions to grow. First, we planted sunflower seeds and bulbs, and we have put them in different places around school (a cold place, a warm place, a light and a dark place). We have discussed how we will make it a fair test (using the same amount of soil and giving them the same amount of water). We will observe the plants over the next few weeks and record any changes.

We have also been practicing for sports day. Our sports day will take place on Thursday next week and we are all very excited!

Next week is our final week of school before half term, we will be completing a PSHE topic all about being a part of #TeamCarrMill and the wider Carr Mill community.
