Birch class week 5 24.3.25

Date: 26th Mar 2025 @ 5:03pm

We have had another busy week in Birch class, filled with lots of treats from the Easter Attendance challenge. We have won a game of pass the parcel, 2 early lunchtimes and some kids choice time. Hopefully we will win even more next week as we move into our final week of the Spring term!

In English we used the tales toolkit images to identify the character, setting, problem and resolution in the story Supertato. We then used this to plan our own retell of the story Supertato and were able to produce some fantastic pieces of writing on Friday.

In maths we have finished our topic on mass and weight so are now experts in reading scales! Next week we will be looking at some different unit of measure, reading thermometers to find out the temperature and observing the capacity of a jug.

In science we have been learning about food chains and whether animals and humans are herbivores, carnivores or omnivores. We created some food chains in groups.

Next week is music week at Carr Mill. We will be singing and playing instruments to create a whole class piece of music called 'everybody'. We are also going to be looking at one of our favourite books in written called 'The Odd Egg' and will be thinking about all the different animals that can hatch from eggs.

REMINDER: Due to Birch winning an own clothes day in the Easter attendance competition, our class will be wearing their own clothes on Monday 😊
