Birch: Spring 2- Week 4

We have had a very busy week in Birch class this week. It has been DT week, and we have been learning about making healthy snacks. We have planned, designed, made and ate a fruit kebab. Alongside this we found out about which fruits and vegetables grow underneath the ground and which we can find on trees. We also thought about the importance of washing our hands and good hygiene when preparing and eating food.

We used our computing skills to record everyone’s favourite fruits by creating a pictogram. Before we could do this, we had to gather data using a tally chart.

On Wednesday we received a letter from 'The Evil Pea' telling us that he had captured the vegetables and hidden them around school. We used clues to find the vegetables and set them free. We are now creating a plan to capture the Evil Pea!

Own clothes day on Friday was so much fun! We ended a fantastic day celebrating Comic Relief with a joke competition in the hall. Dominic represented our class with his joke about witches. It was so funny!

We have had a fantastic week with our 'Eggexcellent attendance' and have chosen 2 prizes from the prize pot. On Thursday we enjoyed making marshmallow lolly pops and on Friday we had a kids choice session. To win a prize we must achieve over 96% attendance as a whole class each day. Hopefully we will win some more prizes next week.

Next week we will be revisiting our science topic, looking at animals’ habitats and homes. Now that we have been to the zoo, we will complete our topic by discussing food changes and what is meant by 'alive, dead, or never alive'
