Seedlings Week 4 30.1.26

Date: 29th Jan 2026 @ 10:46am

This week in Nursery we have been very busy learning all about farms, animals, and working together — inspired by our story of the week, The Little Red Hen.

We enjoyed reading the story and talking about what happened, focusing on the importance of helping one another. The children had lots of fun retelling the story in their own words, using props and pictures to help them remember the sequence of events.

One of the highlights of the week was making our own bread, just like the Little Red Hen! The children loved mixing the ingredients, watching the dough change, and of course tasting the finished bread. It was a fantastic hands-on activity and a great way to talk about where food comes from.

Our tuff tray was transformed into a farm, where the children enjoyed pretending to be farmers and animals. We learned about what happens on a farm, the different animals that live there, and the jobs farmers do. We also played Farm Bingo, which helped develop listening skills, turn-taking, and animal recognition.

In maths, we focused on subitising numbers up to 4 — recognising how many objects there are without counting them one by one. The children practised this through games and practical activities and did a brilliant job!
