Sycamore Blog - WEEK 1 Autumn 2
Date: 6th Nov 2025 @ 1:56pm
Hello everyone,
What a fantastic start to the term we’ve had! The children have settled back beautifully and the classroom is already buzzing with enthusiasm, teamwork, and plenty of learning.
In English, we’ve been diving into poetry with a real purpose. The children have begun writing their own poems inspired by The Blitz and it’s been wonderful to see their creativity unfold. We’ve also been analysing different poems and exploring a range of resources to help us understand how poets use language to evoke emotion and imagery. Sycamore Class have really enjoyed working together, sharing ideas, and supporting each other as young writers and readers.
In Maths, we’re well into our fractions unit. We’ve been focusing on denominators and have started adding fractions—something that has sparked some great “aha!” moments around the room. The children are growing in confidence and showing brilliant perseverance as the concepts get trickier.
The class have been creating a brilliant PowerPoint all about the planets. They researched, designed, presented—and had fun doing it. A real team effort.
PE has been a highlight as always:
- Our Year 4s are loving their swimming sessions, growing stronger and more confident in the water each week.
- Our Year 5s have been enjoying dance, putting energy and creativity into their routines.
Just a little reminder that PE days remain the same, and homework is due in every Wednesday.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support. It makes such a difference, and we’re looking forward to an exciting term ahead!
