Sycamore - WEEK 6
Date: 12th Feb 2026 @ 12:06pm
As we head into half term, I wanted to share a little snapshot of what we’ve been getting up to in class. It’s been a really full and positive week, with lots of learning, teamwork and reflection going on.
In Writing, the children have been working hard to improve their work by really focusing on SPaG elements. We’ve spent time looking closely at punctuation, sentence structure and using grammar accurately to make our writing clearer and more effective. It’s been lovely to see pupils becoming more confident.
In Reading, we have continued our journey through Kensuke’s Kingdom. The children have been thinking carefully about why events happen, how characters’ choices affect others and the impact of these decisions. There have been some great discussions, with us sharing thoughtful ideas and backing them up with evidence from the text.
In Maths, our focus has been on multiplication and division. The children have been practising using different strategies to solve problems, including sharing, grouping and using known facts. Confidence is definitely growing and it’s great to see them explaining their thinking more clearly.
We were excited to start a brand new topic in Science this week: Forces, Liquids and Solids. The children are already curious and asking lots of brilliant questions as we begin exploring how things move, change and behave.
In PE, we’ve been very active! The children have been developing their skills in gymnastics, working on balance, control and sequences, as well as taking part in orienteering with Coach Olivia where teamwork, problem-solving and navigation were key.
This week was also Children’s Mental Health Week and we took part in lots of meaningful activities to support this important theme. These included a live online safety lesson, discussions about feelings and wellbeing, random acts of kindness and a very popular Break the Rules Day, which brought lots of smiles and laughter! It was a great opportunity to talk about looking after ourselves and each other. We were very lucky too as Beech class made us some biscuits as their random act of kindness – they were super yummy!!!
Thank you, as always, for your continued support. We’re looking forward to finishing the term on a positive note and celebrating all the children’s hard work.
Have a lovely week! 🌟
