Sycamore Blog - Week 6

Date: 9th Oct 2025 @ 2:04pm

Hello everyone!

We’ve had another busy and exciting week in class — the children have been working so hard and really showing off all the wonderful skills they’ve been developing this term.

In Reading, we’ve been blasting off into space! 🚀 The children have absolutely loved exploring books all about the solar system, planets, and what it might be like to be an astronaut. Their curiosity has been fantastic — we’ve had some brilliant questions and discussions about what life might be like beyond Earth!

In Maths, we’ve been focusing on multiplication and division. The class have been working hard to make sure they’re really confident with their number facts, as these are so important for future learning. Any extra practice at home with times tables will make a big difference — we really appreciate your support with this.

In Writing, we’ve just wrapped up our PVPG (Purpose, Voice, Grammar, and Presentation) units, and now we’re putting those skills to use by creating our very own space explanation texts. The children are loving using their PVPG tools to explain different space phenomena — it’s been wonderful to see their creativity and knowledge come together!

We’ve also started some spelling interventions, focusing on spelling rules and patterns. This will really help strengthen the children’s confidence and accuracy in their writing.

In Science, we’ve been finishing our topic on space, and the children were fascinated learning about why and how shadows are formed. They’ve loved experimenting and making observations — lots of budding scientists in the room! 🔭

And finally, we’re wrapping up our Geography topic on Liverpool. The children have enjoyed exploring our wonderful city and learning more about its history, landmarks, and significance.

Just a quick reminder that homework is due in every Wednesday, please. Thank you so much for helping the children stay on top of this — it really supports what we’re doing in class.

Have a lovely week ahead, and thank you as always for your continued support!
