Sycamore Class - Week 4
Date: 8th May 2026 @ 9:05am
What a fantastic week we’ve had in Sycamore class this week!
In Reading, we have been continuing diving into King Kong and the children have absolutely loved it. There have been lots of brilliant discussions about the characters, the action and whether Kong is misunderstood or truly dangerous. It has been lovely to see everyone so engaged and eager to share their ideas.
In Writing, we have been focusing on expanding our vocabulary and using more powerful language in preparation for next week’s big task — writing an argument about whether King Kong is a hero or a villain! The children already have some very strong opinions, so I’m sure we are going to see some fantastic persuasive writing.
In Maths, we have continued our work on angles within shapes. We have been practising identifying and calculating missing angles and applying our reasoning skills to solve different problems.
This week has also been DT Week and the classroom has been full of creativity! The children have been designing and creating marble structures while exploring bends, bridges and ways to make structures stronger and more stable. There was lots of teamwork, problem-solving and excitement as everyone tested out their creations.
Today was also a very special day as it marks David Attenborough’s 100th birthday. To celebrate his incredible work helping people care for our planet, we spent the afternoon taking part in an environmental action project and helping to sort and tidy our local area. The children were enthusiastic, thoughtful and proud to make a positive difference to the environment around them.
Well done to everyone for another brilliant week. Have a lovely weekend! :)
