Sycamore - SUMMER 1 WEEK 6

Date: 21st May 2026 @ 4:01pm

What a lovely final week we have had to end our Summer 1 term!

In English, we have started our new class text, The Giant’s Necklace by Michael Morpurgo. The children have really enjoyed exploring the story so far and have been showing lots of enthusiasm during our reading sessions. We have also linked this into our writing lessons, where the children have been producing some thoughtful ideas and descriptive work inspired by the text.

In Maths, we have been focusing on statistics, particularly reading and interpreting information from tables. The children have worked really hard to answer questions carefully and explain their reasoning using the data provided.

Although we sadly had to cancel Sports Day, we have still enjoyed our PE lessons together this week. The children have shown fantastic teamwork and encouragement towards one another and it has been lovely to see them enjoying working together as a class.

In RE, we have continued learning about Buddhism and exploring Buddhist beliefs and traditions. The children have asked some brilliant questions and shown great respect during our discussions.

We also absolutely loved taking part in No Pens Day on Wednesday! The children enjoyed approaching learning in different creative ways and fully embraced the activities throughout the day. We particularly focused on our oracy focuses, with lots of opportunities for speaking, listening, teamwork and problem solving.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support this half term. We hope you all have a wonderful and restful break! :)
