Sycamore Week 3 - Summer 1

Date: 18th Jun 2026 @ 1:16pm

This week, the children have continued to work incredibly hard across all areas of the curriculum.

In English, we have been creating our Star Write based on Paperman. The children planned and wrote their own narratives, focusing on including speech to develop characters and move the story forward. We were impressed with their creativity and their use of punctuation for direct speech.

In Reading, we continued exploring The Nightingale and the Rose, discussing themes, characters and vocabulary to deepen our understanding of the poem and its meaning.

In Maths, our focus has been on converting units of measure. The children have been practising converting between different units of length, mass and capacity, applying their knowledge to a range of reasoning and problem-solving activities.

A highlight of the week was Sports Day. The children demonstrated fantastic teamwork, resilience and sportsmanship throughout the events and we were incredibly proud of their efforts and enthusiasm.

We also completed our PSHE and History units for this term. In History, we finished our learning about Ancient Civilisations, with a particular focus on the Ancient Egyptians. The children enjoyed revisiting key aspects of Egyptian life, including their achievements, beliefs and lasting impact on the world. In PSHE, the children reflected on their learning and the important skills they have developed throughout the year.

Thank you for your continued support. We hope you have a wonderful weekend and look forward to another exciting week ahead.
