Sycamore - Week 3

Date: 30th Apr 2026 @ 1:30pm

It’s been another busy and engaging week in Sycamore class!

In our Reading and Writing sessions, we’ve started exploring King Kong by Anthony Browne. The children have really enjoyed diving into the story and we’ve been having some fantastic discussions about whether King Kong is a hero or a villain. It’s been great to see them forming their own opinions and backing them up with evidence from the text. Alongside this, we’ve been continuing to build our oracy skills—focusing on speaking clearly, listening carefully and respectfully responding to each other’s ideas.

In Maths, we’ve been learning all about angles and measurement. The class has been practising how to identify, compare and measure different angles and applying these skills.

Our Geography lessons have focused on human geography, where we’ve been thinking about the impact humans have on the environment. The children have had some thoughtful discussions about both positive and negative effects and how we can all play a part in looking after our world.

In French, we’ve been working on physical descriptions—learning how to describe appearance using new vocabulary. The children have been doing a great job practising their pronunciation and building confidence when speaking.

Just a quick reminder that next Monday is a bank holiday, so school will be closed.

Wishing you all a lovely long weekend and we’ll see the children back in school on Tuesday!
