Date: 14th Nov 2025 @ 5:12pm

Well done on a fantastic week, Willow! We celebreated Anti-Bullying week in style by taking part in some lovely activities including a live lesson with thousands of other school children from arounf the UK!

We also engaged in some role-play as part of our topic on The Victorians. We imagined we were chimney sweeps, factory workers and even Victorian schoolchildren. i'm looking forward to reading your non-chronological reports over the next few days following our Star Write this week!

I've attached a few images of us completing our lovely 'you're amazing' notes, enjoy!

Willow: Autumn 2, week 1, by Mr Pattinson

Date: 9th Nov 2025 @ 5:39pm

A breakdown of everything we looked at in school this past week:

Maths

The children revisited their understanding of place value, rounding numbers up and down, and counting in thousands. They had great fun playing a dice game where they rolled to created their own large numbers and rounded to the nearest ten, hundred and thousand.

English

Last term, we created non-chronological reports all about the human body. This week, we have started researching Victorian life in preparation for writing our very own non-fiction books about the Victorians. We had lots of fun role-playing as Victorian schoolchildren and factory workers during a lesson on hot-seating!

Science

We have started to explore how sounds are created and what makes them different. To help with our learning, we went on a fun walk around school to listen carefully to all the different sounds we could hear. It was exciting to discover how many sounds are around us every day!

VIP

Well done to Dominic and Maddison for being awarded Writing Champions!

Next week in Willow...

Next week is anti-bullying and frienship week - we have a lots of fun things going on in school to celebrate this! Year 4 will continue with their swimming lessons on Wednesday and VIP will be for kindness/friendship.

Thank you for a great week, everyone! It was so lovely getting to show you all baby Robert! He might not be able to talk yet but I know he had a lovely time seeing all of your faces.

This week, we have enjoyed a lovely Art topic on cityskylines, looking at the work of artist Paul Klee. Looking forward to doing some painting next week! We have also looked at the use of subordination in sentences, as well as partitioning mixed numbers as part of our fractions unit. We also finished our time with Ian from the Hummingbird Project. Don't worry - you will be able to take your lovely booklets home soon!

Have a lovely weekend everyone and I'll see you all on Monday morning!

Willow - Autumn 1, Week 6, by Mr Pattinson

Date: 9th Oct 2025 @ 4:10pm

Thank you for another lovely week, Willow! This week, we have started our unit on fractions in Maths and delved more deeply into the use of co-ordinating conjunctions in our Writing lessons.

We enjoyed more time with Ian from The Hummingbird Project this week - our focus was to work on our teamwork and resilience skills. To do this, we took part in some fun games outside.

We have also enjoyed Music this week. Our focus song was an orchestral 'hoedown'...we looked at findig the rhythm, time signature and 'pulse'. We also played along using the notes F and G. After that, we took the opportunity to showcase our newfound rhythm-finding skills to have a class mosh along to Mr Pattinson's favourite songs. Enjoy!

Thank you for another lovely week, Willow class! This week, we completed a star write based on the book 'Voices in the Park' and continued our learing about regular/irregular verbs and verb phrases in Writing. We also learned about the story of Rama and Sita as part of our topic on Hinduism. We were also treated to another PATHS lesson from the wonderful folks at the Hummingbird Project, an organisation who work with children all over the UK. In our most recent session, we looked at 'Being kind and thankful' - we designed thank you cards for someone special in our lives and had an absolute blast making them!

Have a lovely weekend everyone, see you on Monday.
